Twilight By Stephenie Meyer By Karen By Karen on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My husband's daughter gave him this book as a birthday present because she enjoyed it so much herself. I started to read it with mixed feelings, because firstly, I don't care for vampire stories that much, and secondly, I didn't think I would be able to enjoy a book that was written more for young adults. But I was surprised, the book was very enjoyable for me.

Twilight is the story of Bella, new kid in the town of Forks, Washington, who falls hopelessly in love with a vampire. This is definitely a very different love story. Bella cannot help the attraction she feels for Edward, and Edward has to work so hard on not doing anything to put her in danger, because he cares for her as well. I found myself being caught up in the tale of these two characters. I actually read this book after seeing the movie, and I know I should have done it the other way around. But I really did enjoy the story, it was unique and completely different from my usual reading material.

The book is 498 pages long, so you can really sink your teeth into it (sorry, I couldn't resist). It is the first of four books in the Twilight series, and I am looking forward to getting and reading the second book in the series.

If you want to try something different, read Twilight. You might be pleasantly surprised.
