Ultimate Makeup and Beauty is a very informative book written by Mary Quant, an authority on fashion and cosmetics. This book, published by DK Publishing, Inc., is a great guide to the application of makeup for every type of face. There are step-by-step photographic makeup lessons that show you the best way to apply makeup, detailed questionnaires to help you identify your face shape, skin type and coloration, tips on how to take care of your particular skin type, even a gallery of looks from the most natural girl-next-door look to a stunning evening appearance.

There are 120 pages in all. I do wish the book were a little longer, but it is full of helpful information and photos. There are also sections on the beauty tools you will need, different types of foundation, face powders, blushers, eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara, nail polishes, and skin and body preparations. This book is like taking a day at a spa, just without the massage and expense. The retail price is $24.95, but I was able to purchase it at a bargain.
