I this Uniden BearCat police scanner which has capability of programming up to 50 channels. I program all my local Police Departments, Fire Departments and Rescue squads to be able to hear there radio transmissions. I will listen to this over the radio in my car. I like this portable because you can use a ac adapter for indoors and a dc adaptor for your vehicle. I was very impressed with the range that this scanner gets as I pick up town departments that a transmitting up to 20 or 30 miles away. This scanner also comes with a one touch weather to keep you informed of all the last forecasts. It has a light display so you can see in the dark. It also has the capabilities to program your favorite channels so if transmissions are active on those channels it will prioritise them. Uniden builds quality electronics.
