Valium is the oldest known prescription drug used today to treat anxiety. The side effects are little to none. Some people may experience some drowsiness or fatigue. I did not experience any of these or weight gain. I currently suffer from panic attacks. Panic attacks are when you feel extreme anxiety, heart beats fast, sweaty or numb palms, and severe fear of dying! My doctor recomended that I try Valium because for one it is very affordable and two it has very little side effects. Although, if you are taking this medication, you should never just stop taking this drug without first talking to your doctor. Another factor involved is that not only is it highly adictive, you can grow a tolerance to it very quickly. I have been taking Valium for about two years. I have only had one increase since taking the drug. I am not able to drive while taking the drug, but it is well worth the improvement with the high anxiety attacks I was experiencing! Most drugs today are new, but I just feel more confident with taking the Valium due to the fact it has been the most common drug used to treat this disorder.
