Valspar Interior Paint By Rachel Perez on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We recently moved into a new home in which we undertook the painting of nearly all interior walls. We chose the Valspar eggshell finish for the master bedroom, 2nd bedroom and sun room. We chose the Valspar semi-gloss for the living room, dining room, kitchen, hallways and playroom. We chose the high gloss finish for the trim work throughout the house. We also used a matte finish in a small area of wainscoting in the sun room.

We LOVED the finished results. Although we did not use any primer, the coverage was excellent, and smooth. Any spills and splatters wiped up with a damp rag. Dried paint on the hardwood floors came up with soap and water. As long as the paint was applied semi-thick, one coat was all that was necessary. However, on a very light color, like the light grey used in the hallway, we noticed two coats were necessary to make an even look. It was not because any of the old color (an off white) came through, it was more to make it an even coverage. This didn't seem necessary on the darker grey color we used, the navy blue, or the mustard/taupe color.

The fumes were very low, and didn't seem to bother my mother in law at all, who suffers from COPD. I was also five months pregnant when we painted and the fumes did not irritate me at all.

This is an excellent product for the low cost. We will defiantly use it again and again.
