Vandoren Traditional Reeds, Simply The Best By mpm5000 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I've been playing the saxophone for 8 years. Throughout this time period I have played on my fair share of different reeds. This includes Rico, La Voz, Alexander, and Vandoren. Of all of these, Vandorens have been far and away the best. Out of the Vandoren brand, I have tried both the V16 and Traditional reeds for classical playing (I use the ZZ's for my jazz playing). From my experience, I feel that the V16, while producing a very true sound, was a little bight for my liking. The Traditional's on the other hand have a very warm, rich tone that is perfect for classical pieces. My only complaint is that in a box of 10 I usually only come across 7 or 8 that play to my liking. However, the 7 or 8 that do play are fantastic. If you are even considering trying a new type of reed, do yourself a favor and buy them.
