Last month, I reviewed TD Waterhouse and noted their lack of knowledge and customer service. This month, I wanted to write a review about the better choice, at least for me!
I opened up a Roth IRA with Vanguard after reading a lot on the internet and various financial magazines. Vanguard is known for its low-fee funds, and was personally recommended to me from a person I trust. I am pretty self-directed in terms of making investment choices, and I prefer to have information available online. I want to be able to call Customer Service if needed, but do not feel the need to have a financial advisor at this time.
Overall, I am 100% satisfied with everything about Vanguard. They are up-front about fees (which are very low), everything I need is available online, and when I do have questions, they have always been handled responsibly by Customer Service. The website is very clean and easy-to-use. I really like how easy it is to make a contribution to my account as well.
If you're thinking of opening a Roth IRA, I would definitely recommend checking out Vanguard. They are a reputable company, and I have had a wonderful experience with them (about 10 years now!).

I like Vanguard for all the reasons you've cited Money. They are very clear about what you can expect and very upfront about any hidden fees.
