Viewtiful Joe - GameCube

Released in 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube, Viewtiful Joe brings new style and gameplay to the dying 2D platforming genre. The basis of the game is that Joe and his girlfriend, Silvia, are out on a date watching a classic superhero movie starring Joe's favorite superhero, Captain Blue. When Captain Blue is defeated, the movie enters reality and the unknown protagonist kidnaps Silvia. Joe enters the movie and acquires superhero powers to become Viewtiful Joe. The game is a basic 2D platform game with a twist. Joe has the ability to slow the speed of the film, zoom in, and fight enemies with amazing VFX moves! The graphics offer a mixture of 2D and 3D with beautiful colors and scenery. The game features two different difficulty levels so that both kids and adults have an appropriate challenge. With the new twist in platforming gameplay, Viewtiful Joe is definitely worth a look, especially with its cheap used price at GameStop and other used game retailers.
