Vintage V100
By Matthew Knight onThe Vintage V100 is a Les Paul style guitar, available in a number of different colours andfinishes. The oneI bought was a flametop vintage sunburst.
Features
The Mahogany neck of this guitar is set, not bolted on as many cheap guitar necks are. It has Wilkinson alnico humbuckers each with its ownVol and Tone knobs in the standard Les Paul position. It is a great glossy finish that seems to stand up well to use and is not easily scratched.
Action and Finish
The action was superbly low on thev100I bought, no buzz what so ever. It is really nice to play and will notkill your fingers like some guitars. The Neck is dead straight and theintonation was almost perfect (although this could have been due to the previous owner). The sustain on this guitar is long and clear.
As for thefinish, I bought this guitar second-hand and have been playing this guitar almost every day for a year and there are novisible scratches in thefinish. It has stood up to quite a bit of use, but does not show it. The flametop is extremely visually pleasing.
Sound
The sounds that can be achieved from this guitar are quite simply amazing, considering the price. I use it mainly for Classic Rock (think Queen, ACDC, Boston), for which it does sound great. The toneis very clear and the pickups do not have any notable interference. The V100also sounds very nicewhen not plugged into an amplifier. There aremany sounds this guitar can create when plugged into a decent amp. FromRock to Metal to Pop to Jazz, this guitar handles it all.
Overall Rating
I have never seen any other guitar of such quality available at such a low price. One can easily pick one up new or second-hand off eBay for under $200. I will give the V1004.8/5because it isa super guitar, not only for beginners but alsolongtime players. The sounds achievable through this guitar are many andit is beautifully built.
