Visit To Kanya Kumari By mariamrose on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

We visited Kanyakumari, also known as Cape Comorin, last November. It is the southern most tip of Indian peninsula. It is located in Tamilnadu state, India. It is around 85 km drive from my place. We started out in the morning and reached there in 3 hours. We checked into a hotel which we had booked earlier.

Kanya kumari is mostly famous for sunrise and sunsets, as this is the only place in India where we can see both. Because of the meeting point of three ocean bodies - the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea - the spectacular sunrise/sunset sight is considered to be even more special.

Only drawback is the burning sun..! The climate is very hot. We stayed in the hotel till 5 pm. Then we went to seaside to watch the sea and sunset. Sunset was very beautiful. We walked around the place till 8 pm then returned to the hotel.

The cleanliness near the beach is horrible. You have to be very careful while walking as you might step on something foul!

Neat day we got up early and watched the sunrise. Then we visited Vivekanatha rock and did some shopping. We started back home by eleven. (We wanted to escape the scorching sun!)
