Vivelle Dot 0.1 Mg Hrt Patch By Summer Banks on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Hormone Replacement pills and tablets have recently declined in popularity to patches and gels. Immediately after having a total abdominal hysterectomy, I was placed on the Vivelle Dot patch. I have to admit I was less than thrilled by some of the features.

The Vivelle Dot 0.1 MG Patch is the largest Vivelle Dot Patch and it is only the size of two postage stamps side by side.

The patch is supposed to be applied on the lower abdomen, which is a feat for a plus sized woman. I ended up using the skin on my hip and lower back as the "stick on" spot.

The Vivelle Dot Patch worked great for the first three days of usage. After three days, my estrogen levels bottomed out and I was left tired, moody and with one terrible menopause migraine. The package claims the patch is supposed to be changed after 3 days and then after 4 days. But, the patch is only effective for 3 1/2 days. The discrepancy left me less than thrilled.

All-in-all, I love the concept of the Vivelle Dot Patch. I never had to worry about remembering a pill every day, but I was forced to supplement the patch with estrogen in a pill form after three days.
