Vlc Media Player By vorpery on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
VLC Media Player if a highly skinnable media player. It has almost all the codecs in existence so you can play virtually any media file you can get your hands on. When I first found VLC I thought "Hey, it's just another cool media player I can test!" After a while though, I realized that VLC isn't an ordinary media player. It is probably one of the most bug-free applications I have ever tried. When I opened it up I got a choice of Complete View, Classic View, or Minimal View. If you select Complete View, the screen isn't filled with buttons, like some other applications I've tried, instead there are just a few controls along the bottom. The rest of the screen is filled with black and a VLC Media Player traffic cone in the middle. From the menu you can do all sorts of things, from creating playlists to editing the media and codec information. There are probably a lot of hidden features I don't know of yet, but for now my knowledge of VLC is enough to say that it is a very good media player. The only problems I have probably ever encountered is that when it handles AVI with DivX video encoding, sometimes it gets laggy for no apparent reason.
