VLC Media Player
By vorpery onVLC Media Player if a highly skinnable media player. It has almost all the codecs in existence so you can play virtually any media file you can get your hands on. When I first found VLC I thought "Hey, it's just another cool media player I can test!" After a while though, I realized that VLC isn't an ordinary media player. It is probably one of the most bug-free applications I have ever tried. When I opened it up I got a choice of Complete View, Classic View, or Minimal View. If you select Complete View, the screen isn't filled with buttons, like some other applications I've tried, instead there are just a few controls along the bottom. The rest of the screen is filled with black and a VLC Media Player traffic cone in the middle. From the menu you can do all sorts of things, from creating playlists toediting the media and codec information. There are probably a lot of hidden features I don't know of yet, but for now my knowledge of VLC is enough to say that it is a very good media player. The only problems I have probably ever encountered is that when it handles AVI with DivX video encoding, sometimes it gets laggy for no apparent reason.
