Volcano House Hotel By Tink on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I stayed at the Volcano House hotel with my family while visiting the Big Island of Hawaii. This is an experience of a lifetime because you are staying on the edge of the Kilauea Crater!
The rooms are simple and small. There are no televisions or radios in the rooms. You can borrow a board game to take back to your room or check out some books for reading.
If you happen to arrive to the hotel early, you can enjoy a lunch buffet. Make a reservation for dinner in the restaurant when you arrive. We didn't do that and ended up with hot dogs and snacks for dinner. We ate them as we enjoyed the movie about the volcano in the community area.
The views from the restaurant are spectacular! You can see the active volcano smoking if you happen to get lucky enough to sit by the windows. If you don't get a window table, when you finish you can walk outside the restaurant, or go into the gift shop for views of the volcano.
I would highly recommend this hotel!

Yikes- being that close to a volcano would make me nervous, but my son would love it! Thanks for sharing.
I stayed here once too. I was nice to be right there on the park ground. It was really nice not to have a tv or radio in the room too. Really allows you to relax and listen to nature.
sounds nice, i may have to venture there again sometime!
