Vonage gateway

The vonage device is terrible. connections are simple enough but the device is unreliable. I have heard similar horror stories about this router. When I first connected with vonage they offered the small Lynksis gateway that didin`t work at all, either the other party could not hear you, or you could not hear them!... I have since returned that unit and now have the unit I am describing. I have called vonage on numerous occasions and they tell me that it is a "line quality issue" they then "improve" it for me or that it`s my ISP. My ISP says that it is them. Why then does it work fine only during certain parts of the day? Also the unit will shutdown on it`s own and not work at all. After a power cycle of my modem, the vonage, and my pc it then works. Vonage told me that I probaly need to upgrade my gateway to work better with my modem. Essentially it`s a router that connects to vonage how much can really go wrong? well, apparently alot. Im going to return the unit, I mean if it`s unreliable and doesn`t work half the time then whats the point?, and getting out of the vonage deal may be difficult as well, something about $40.00 to terminate, oh great! So perhaps this review should be about the entire vonage service and not just their box.
