This is a set of 3 cordless handsets with one connected base with an answering machine. The other satellite bases only serve as charging stations. The good: three phones in a package is great for a large home -- don't need to buy several cordless phones. The 5.8ghz provides reliable static free sound with sufficient range (I haven't tried it down at the neighbors house to see if it would reach). The lcd display on each handset provides caller ID. The belt loop hook is surprisingly solid. The bad: only one handset can be in-use at one time. If someone in one room answers the phone, they have to transfer to the other handset which is not for the technology impaired. Also, their is a headset jack on the side of each of the three handsets. Unfortunately a headset is not included in the kit. As for the answering machine, it's an answering machine. Thankfully it doesn't take up too much space and is wall mountable.
