vtech v.smile Baby
By dmk417 onThis toy video gaming system is, in theory, a very good idea. It's bright, colorful, and connects to the TV, so it sounds like a child's dream. It boasts the ability to teach your little one numbers, shapes, music, colors, animals, and sign language. It says you can play with your child in an interactive learning setting. All great ideas. For a two year old. Not a 9 month old. Or a one year old. Yet, the box says you can start using it at nine months. I suspect that is a ploy to sell as many of these darn things as possible, because who would buy a system that is only going to be age appropriate for one year? Once your child reaches 3 years old, you can buy a whole new v.tech gaming system. My advice? Wait until they are three and buy that one! We received this as a gift, upon my request. Had I spent the money on it myself, it would be back at the store. I have heard complaints about the graphiscs, but I think those are fine. My problem with it is that my kid doesn't care about it. She would rather play with ANYTHING else than sit in front of the TV with mom. So, she won't be learning all these wonderful skills right now, because she doesn't understand the concept. I can see the merit in the game, if you have an older toddler. I don't support the claim that it is for the wee ones, though. Mothers of babies: buy at your own risk, and make sure to keep your receipt!
