Walmart Park Bench
By Tina Lehman onI bought this little park bench to sit on our patio. The price was great, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
The bench has a wrought-iron frame and legs and wooden slats. The first year I had it, it was very sturdy and comfortable. After sitting outside for a winter, the iron began to rust a bit, and the bench became a little more wobbly. The wood also started to splinter a bit. After two winters outside (no, I didn't learn my lesson after the first winter), the bench became even more wobbly.
The bench is still useable, but I don't feel comfortable having guests sit on it if they don't know it's unsteady.I'm sure one of these days I'm going to end up on my backside on a pile of sticks.
I think this bench is a bit too vulnerable to the effects of the weather to be a good thing to purchase. It's cute, and cheap, but sitting out in the weather has really shown me spending a bit more money would have been worth it.

I have a bench like that too! It's gone through a few winters (our winters are rainy). I always hold my breath when someone a little overweight sits on it because it's so wobbly! This is even after I tighten up the screws on the thing every year!
That's a cute bench at a great price, too bad it didn't hold up through the winters. I wonder if a furniture cover would have helped? At least it's cheap enough that you could re-buy every few years, or save the pennies for a better quality one that will last longer!
Too bad it couldn't hold up to the weather. Really, I don't think you should have to worry about putting up your patio furniture...it should be able to withstand whatever comes it's way (except maybe a tornado or hurricane).
Some times it is better to shop around and look for quality rather then bargain prices. I have learned this lesson many times with many different items. Thanks for sharing the honest information.
I'm looking for a bench for my garden- good to get some ideas of what to look for and what to avoid!
Too bad they didn't weather proof it better considering it's an outside bench.
