This isnt really a trailer, or a roof rack, but it is a rack for your auto!
This is a great rack for hauluing anything. Dirt, rocks, sand, (all in bags), luggage, bikes. Its pretty simple. Its one unit, and just slips into your trailer hitch. They have a model for a smaller receiver as well.
This is made of aluminun, so its not too heavy. I am 5'3" and I can install this into my hitch by myself.
Its made of a grate like material for the bottom, so if its raining, or you are carrying bags of mulch or dirt, it slips through the holes.
These also havea bike carrier accessory you can buy (but Target doesn't sell these for some reason). I bought the bike carrier accessory online.
I like this carrier, because once I have used it, I can hang it in my garage, up off the floor, and out of the way. I have hauled quite a bit with this. Like I said before, bags, of stone, dirt, mulch, etc...
And I have also carried luggage for a weekend trip.
Target does sell a web tie down accessory. Its a tie down system, so you dont have to worry about bungees, or ropes.
If you dont want to have to worry about a trailer, or you dont want to get the inside of you car filthy from garden materials, this rack is for you!

I like the idea of rear mounting a rack. The price is good and for short hauls from my garden center this would be perfect.
I've seen these is use and they look great. You would need to remember that you have that extra length back there though!
