War World Ii Memorial; Washington Dc By TKDDad on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

We stopped at the War World II Memorial, is in a good location near the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.

The memorial is stunning. This is not as busy as the Vietnam Memorial but worth the stop if in the area. I like the pool here, its really relaxing to sit near it and reflect on the Memorial.

I feel it gives the place and calming effect to it.

The Freedom Wall was impressive. It consists of 4,000 gold stars to remember all the those who died during the War. I learned the during World War II the gold star was the symbol of family sacrifice.

I thought the granite pillars were also impressive. Each states has its own pillar and they are connected by rope. It is a nice touch.

Make sure to take the time to read the inscriptions throughout the memorial. I felt some of them were really moving and appropriate for this memorial.
