Watch For The Charge! By JP_Whickson on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My big 60th birthday was around the corner and we decided to make a travel weekend. I thought it might be fun to rent a smaller car so we could do as much travel, have road service and look spiffier. My car is a gas guzzler and Mike drives a box truck that gets about 5 miles per gallon, so, by renting a car for $16 plus tax we ended up saving money for our little journey. We only scheduled one day on line, Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and secured a hotel at the other end of the destination. When we went to pick up the car, they charged us for two days. I noticed that before we left and mentioned that the price quoted was half that. We actually would have spent about the same as we would have driving our own cars, but that wasn't what the little reservation paper I printed off the Internet told me the price was to be.
The manager of the Enterprise was a really nice guy and explained that they aren't open Sunday so they had to charge us for the day they weren't open. He then looked at the sheet that I copied and said he would honor the amount quoted but that we shouldn't do it again. I loved the idea that he honored the price but felt that Enterprise needs to get their act together. Had I not noticed the difference we would have paid double for the car.
Basically the local group gives wonderful customer service but the national online site and the locals need to get together to correct this issue.
Enterprise compact car rental Purchased at: enterprise Price: $20

Seen this before too many times to recount here. I often think it's almost a game with these guys. Trying to carve out an extra nickel becuse of their online sites wonky policies. Good for you in holding your ground.
Enterprise did this to us as well, thanks for pointing it out for everyone else so that they are aware of it.
I hear this happens with many car rental places. Glad you worked it out.
Sounds like they are a little silly there by not making it clearer! Glad you got a good deal!
I think it's a real scam to charge people for days they are not open.
Yeah, that is a scam to charge for those days. Lots of rental companies have stupid little problems like this, and it needs to be fixed!
So glad to hear that your local office treated you well. I've had a horrible experience with Enterprise and ended up with better service from the National Office - which wasn't so great either, lol.
I have had nothing but good experiences with Enterprise.
