Webkinz are a lot of fun for the kids, but it is still just another computer game. When I purchased one for my child, I thought that it would teach him responsibility because he had to feed the dog everyday or it would die. I thought that it would be different than just sitting there playing a computer game. He definitely feeds the dog everyday, however, he also wants to play tons of games to earn money to get the pet more stuff. I don't think he is learning responsibility, but just playing more video games. Ever since I bought the Webkinz, there have been fights about computer time. There was fighting before, but now it has gotten much worse. I think earning money to buy stuff for the pet is just shoving more materialism our kids way. Do they ever earn money to save it for the future? No! They just want to buy more stuff for the Webkinz.

Furthermore, the kids were really disappointed on Christmas when they couldn't get on the Webkinz site. Webkinz didn't anticipate the extra traffic on Christmas and the site crashed. It was a couple of days before the kids were able to get on the site.

Webkinz is a fun game for the kids, but you will have to limit computer time or the kids will be spending too much time on it.
