We'll Never Know Why The Chicken Crossed The Road By ohthethinksyouwillthink on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Usually I like to make my own greeting cards. I'm a scrapbooker, so I always have a stash of pretty embellishments to make lovely cards for weddings and my friends' birthdays. But when it comes to guy birthdays, I'm stumped. Something tells me that my lace and ribbons wouldn't be appreciated in the same way.

My Brother-in-law's birthday is coming up, so while I was grocery shopping I stopped by the card aisle to see what was available, and found this little gem. The front of the card is a burial scene. There is a grieving chicken, a rooster minister, and a poor dead rooster in a casket. The minister is giving his eulogy: "...and though we'll never know just why Dave wanted to cross the road, we can rest assured that he is now, at last, on the other side." The inside of the card reads, "Hope your birthday is a big hit."

It made me laugh, anyway.

This card was made by Shoebox, which is a division of Hallmark, so you can find them almost anywhere Hallmark cards are sold. All of them seem to sport the same kind of (groaner) jokes, so if you know someone with a wicked sense of humour, these are the cards for them!

This card cost $2.99.

LOL! God forgive me but I immediately started laughing because this card reminded me of my husband who died. His name was David, so that really didn't help!

That is really funny! I love Shoebox cards and I can usually find the perfect card to fit the person who will receive it in that collection.

LOL - that's a funny card - I hope he enjoyed it. I love reading cards in the store. Nobody around seems to appreciate the humor any more, but I can stand there quite a long time reading most of them. Shoebox is one of them.
