West Marine Vhf 150 By Scott Parizo on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I purchased this West Marine VHF 150 two way radio for 139.99. I wanted something portable rather than going through all the steps and cost of Mounting a stationary radio on my boat. The only con is that you would get more of a range with a stationary radio but for as much as I go on the lake I never really get to far out of someones range and should be capable to be coming over someone's radio if I ever needed to make contact in event of an emergency. This radio comes with a very bright display and all the necessary emergency marine distress channels and also channels dedicated to private use. I can speak to a buddy on an open channel if needed. This radio comes with a nice rechargable ion battery that does not lose its charge and is very reliable to hold a charge for at least 12 hours. This radio is waterproof i believe up to approximatey 1 meter of water or for length of time of 30 minutes. One of the nice features also is the ability to access the weather channel to know when you could be in for a storm headed your way. I'm rather pleased with this Marine Radio and I'm glad I made this purchase as in the event an emergency happened on the water my cell phone may not be to reliable if I with it ends up in the lake.

This sounds like a nice little gift for an outdoorsperson.
