When Ya Gotta Poke Yourself..... By daavery25 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When you HAVE to poke yourself in the finger four times a day, it might as well be a quick, easy, and relatively painless process.

Lifescan gave out thousands of their new Onetouch UltraMini glucose meters as an introduction to this fabulous new product. I was even one of the fortunate who got a handful of free test strips (which, by the way are expensive if you aren't insured).

I love this meter. Not only is it one, if no THE tiniest meter out on the market, (meaning no more lugging around big clumsy packs of meter and accessories), but this meter is fast, and really easy to use. The included lancet has 10 adjustable settings to make sure sensitive users don't get that felling of driving a 2 penny nail through their fingertip.

I only wish the test strips, which are vital to the operation of this meter were more affordable for non covered individuals like myself, or this would be the primary meter I used daily.

Sad to hear that you are poking your fingers for 4X a day...I poked mine twice a week only, cos i do a lot of diet control and exercise. I agree with you that it is a great meter there.

Is there a way that Patient Assistance can get the cost of these strips covered? https://www.pparx.org/Intro.php
