Whirlpool 50 Pint Dehumidifier Energy Star By Kakoa on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

This Whirlpool dehumidifier does a great job in any sized space, but I would not reccommend it for a space where you plan to spend alot of time.

We put this dehumidifier in our basement shortly after we moved in to our new house. We do not have a moisture problems at all down there, but we wanted one just in case. The first day we put it down there, it filled completley 4 times! It pulled water out of the air we had no idea was even there. After about the 3rd day of constant use, we could tell the air felt different. It was cooler, drier feeling, and had no musty smell what so ever.

This dehumidifer has an auto run function where you can turn it on and let it go until it fills up. If you attach the drain hose, it will continue to run without having to stop for dumping. When the tub is filled with water it may be a little heavy for elderly people to lift and dump, but it would not be bad for most people.

This unit is a bit loud, but it's not so bad that it radiates throughout the house. I would not suggest putting it in a room where you plan to spend much living time or in your bed room. Otherwise, this product does its job very well.

It looks rather unstable with the top larger than the bottom, but maybe not if the container is in the bottom. 50-pint? That's huge, like 6 gallons! Is the tank really that big? That looks more like the size of the entire unit. I can't imagine they would put a tank over 2 gallons in a unit that has to be emptied by hand.
