Whirlpool Calypso Washer By GMC3MOM on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We thought we were getting a great washer for our money. For almost 2 years it proved to be an ok washer. The pros were that it did have a larger load capacity, and lots of options for deciding water temperatures, load types, etc. However we didn't notice the little problems until the BIG problem occurred. I went out to turn on the washer and it wasn't functioning at all. I did all the correct things like checking the circuit breaker, checking the outlet, etc. Went to the manual and checked troubleshooting, nothing about it not starting up or any indication of internal fuses that may need to be replaced. This began our search on the net to see if there way any information online that could help us determine what was wrong.

What we found out is through various websites that this was a common problem and we were also made aware of the little problems that we never realized were related to the machine.

There was an overwhelming amount of reviews from customers who said the machine was a lemon, the machine needed to be recalled, the machine was constantly needing repair, had mold issues, produced an odor (this is one of the problems we attributed to something else, only to find out it was from the washer), and so much more.

We are really disappointed that our brand new washer, that we invested a good chunk of money in, didn't even make it to two years old!
