Whirlpool Duet Sport By Rinstah on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When my Husband and I were purchasing our Washer and Dryer we read every review we could find. We wanted something that was reiable and wouldn't need a whole lot of repairs, as well as something that was energy efficent and good to the enviroment. Also equally important was something that fit into our budget, as we were engaged and planning a wedding and fresh out of school. Thats where the Whirlpool Duet Sport comes in. When we first read the reviews on this pair we were a little scared, some of them were pretty nasty and a lot of the time had the same problems. However, after researching a little deeper, we noticed that a lot of the other front loaders had the same issues and the Sport seemed to be the prefered machine over the others. We took a leap and purchased both machines in July 2007. We haven't had a problem since buying them. I love the fact that it uses little water and the clothes come out clean. I also find that they keep the clothes looking newer longer because theres no agetator to wear them down. The dryer has a great function that keeps the clothes wrinkle free.

My only suggestion is to use the HE soap that they tell you to use. Many people don't bother because they say if you use 1/2 the amount of regular soap its the same thing. It isn't!! Most of the reviews we read people complained of mold/a smell coming from the machine. Regular soap causes too many bubbles and it can cause the machine to grow mold over time. We also leave the door open to dry out the rubber when we arn't using it, and once a month or so we put bleach in the washer and turn it on wash washer cycle to clean it. We haven't had an issue yet!
