I am a firm believer in buying generic products whenever you can save some money, because most of the time both products work the same. Windex is one big exception that I have found. I have used a few different generic glass cleaners and none seem to work as well. All that I have tried leave streaks and do not clean nearly as well. With Windex Glass Cleaner, you can spray it on, and wip it off, and it really does leave great clean glass. I don't know why it works so much better, but it does not leave any streaks, especially if you wipe the glass with a dry paper towel after cleaning. The scent of the original blue Windex is not that great, but its not harsh. I have seen some new scents out that seem like they would be more pleasant, but I have not tried them.
