Windows Movie Maker
By Rob Mooney onThis is a video editing program that, based on your general level of experience or expectations you may or may not find useful or valuable. It's put out by Microsoft so it's got pretty much the same level of ingenuity as Internet Explorer or Windows security. That isn't to say this program isn't useful because as I've previously stated it depends on your level of experience or knowledge. If you've started out editing with a program similar to Final Cut Pro for the Mac then it's safe to say that you'll hate this program. The options, transitions, and overall editing capabilities are very weak and recommended for beginners. Now, if you are a beginner and you're new to the video editing scene or you're just whipping together a quick video for youtube then this program is recommended but if you're experienced then bypass this program altogether or since it comes with Windows by default, just ignore it and get a copy of Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier. Windows movie maker is in my opinion useless because you can only export in .wmv format and the Vista standard version isn't much different than the XP version. Other than that, I personally have no problem at all with Movie maker because all I pretty much do with it is whip together quick youtube videos. I personally recommend Vegas if you're doing bigger projects because that's what I sue and it hasn't failed me yet.
