Windows Movie Maker By Samuel Rajkumar By Samuel Rajkumar on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Windows Movie Maker comes with any microsoft operating system. Windows movie maker is not bad movie editing software. Though it don't perform the pinnacle like editing, it does fair good job. According to me it is the best free version. It has easy and friendly user interface, so anyone can understand it. It supports wmv, avi, mpg files only. The output file is wmv file I guess. So if you have something like mp4 or mov file, then you have to convert it first and then import it using windows movie maker. With windows movie maker we can add transition effects either at the beginning of the movies or at the end. For those who does home videos then this software can be the best. You can trim your raw videos and you can save them to CD, DVD or to a folder in the local drive. The effects that come with this software are also basic ones. I think everyone who wants to become a pro video editor has to start with windows movie maker. Achieve perfection in this software and then you can go to much powerful softwares such as Pinnacle studio, corel etc etc.

I've used Movie Maker a few times but it always crashed on me. But then again, it's Microsoft. It is a good program, but SAVE your work as you go. I won a Sims 2 contest a few years ago when I made a video. It' won me a $500 video card and I almost gave up too, because of the crashes. I hung in there and finally finished it. Just SAVE your work.
