World Of Warcraft By Rhonda Straw By Rhonda Straw on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
World of Warcraft is a MMRPG, (massive multi player role playing game), produced by Blizzard, played on the PC. World of warcraft (better known as WoW) has been around since approximate 2004. Blizzard also produces Diablo, Warcraft, and Starcraft.
WoW is free to try for 14 days, and then you are charged 14.95 a month to play. It is a global game, actually, Blizzard, has turned it into an industry, with guide books, maps, collectable editions that donot remain in stores for very long, t-shirts, mouse pads, and action figures. You play with players interntationally, who help your character, and you help them, and can gorup with them.
The player decides which type of charater he wants to play:for alliance: night elf, gnome, dwarf, human, draenei, and now Death knight. For horde, one can choose undead, orc, bloodelf, tauren, troll, death knight. Different characters are known as races. Each race has it's starting capitol city. These include: Stormwind, Darnassus, Iron Forge, Exodar, and a new area designed for the Death knight, (which is a completely different review). For horde these areas are Durator, Thunder Bluff, Tristal Glades, Ghostlands. The alliance are not welcome in the horde starting area, and the same goes for horde.
A player gains levels, from 1 to 70, and it presently takes 6-8 months for a character to reach 70. The game includes dungeons in all the major cities, where reputation is gained. A player of the same faction (alliance or horde), may decide to raise the reputation in another capital city. Reputations start at neutral, and go to exalted.
Characters have professions that they can build up, and it helps supplement ingame income. Later on, when they level to 60, ingame income is much needed, for mounts (which at this point are flying birds, and later dragons, and other creatures, and are very expensive). When reaching 70, (and now 80) charcaters are given daily quests, often for gold as high as 16. You're allowed to do up to 25 a day. Also, a player is allowed to have up to 10 characters on a server, and there are hundreds of servers.Be careful if you try it, you might enjoy it.It's more than just a video game.
