Reviewing: Xfx Ge Force 9600 Gso 768 Mb Ddr2
Purchased at: Tigerdirect.Com     Price: $59.99 USD

I purchased this graphics card after I updated my motherboard (Asus P5Q) I updated from an FX 5200 to the XFX 9600. First thing I noticed when I took it out the box was the size..its a big heavy card. Included in the package is an HDTV cable so you can have your TV as a second monitor, S-Video Cable, DVI-to-VGA Adapters and Power Connector to connect to your motherboard.

It looks like it can do the business and it does. It runs anything I can throw at it on maximum resoloution (2560 x 1600).

I researched for days on which card to buy, and finally settled on this card because of the price - at $59.99 you can't beat it, it has the power to handle the stuff that the higher end cards can handle without the extortionate prices. I read a lot of reviews on the card, some people were saying the fan is to loud, I haven't found that..I'd rather hear the fan than not hear it..you've got problems if you can't hear it...but your system would tell you if something was wrong. As I said the card is big they all are nowdays and will probably take up an extra slot in some motherboards.

Overall this card is a great buy, I would of bought 2 to have in SLI but my motherboard doesn't support SLI (only have 1 PCI Express 2.0 slot). Its a pretty power hungry card but most cards nowdays are..I'd say to have at least a 500 watt power supply so you don't have any problems. All in all I an very happy with this card and would definately buy this card again.

This was actually cheaper at the time of buying after MIR than ATI of the same spec..and ATI has let me down in the past, Nvidia never has.

You sound clear about the price and so I won't comment regarding that. As you had mentioned your satisfaction over the Graphics Card, it sounds the product have some speciality in it. Thanks for sharing. There are some people who goes for quality rather than bothering much about price. But, it is true that majority will look for cheaper ones and I am no exception.

I have an old computer that probably needs to have its 7600GT replaced, and this card sounds like a decent one for it. How is the heat output though? I had heard that XFX cards have a higher temperature than other brands.

In Everest Ultimate edition system temp stats my GPU is at 49C or 120F which has gone up a little since I took off my side case fan because of the Sunbeam cooler I added. I would only worry if the temps got round 85-90C If it did start to get higher especially as high as 90C there would have to be a problem of some sort..like the fan not spinning for instance. If the heat started to rise to say 70C would simply change the case cooling fans for bigger 120mm where possible. I Also keep my case and components dust free as much as possible because dust increases heat on components. This is a great Card for the price, does everything I ask of it..since I bought this card though there maybe better cards out there that have dropped to the price I paid..but for a budget card its hard to beat.
