Xfx N Vidia 8800 Gt 512 Mb By Baseline on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I owned an 8800GTX that I had bought in October of 2007 for $550. That was appx. 1 year into that cards lifecycle, which means that price is pretty ridiculous. Now, out comes this 8800GT, which has a bit less memory and bus size, but by most benchmarks, it's performing almost as well and uses a lot less power and produces a lot less heat. Oh, and did I mention it costs less than half the price? Well, that is if you can find it at it's proper retail value, which at this time you might have a hard time doing so, as a lot of places have it marked up.

At this time, which is the closing of 2007, I must say that this card has the best price to performance ratio I've seen in a long time. I personally think nVidia put these out due to pressure from the newer games that were performing poorly on single GTX/Ultra solutions. This card, for it's reasonable price, should keep most gamers in the framerate comfort zone, as long as they have other comparable hardware.
