Yaesu Ft 2500 2 Meter Ham Radio By JOEY on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

I purchased this radio from Ham Radio outlet in New Hampshire about 11 years ago. I have been very pleased with it and operate it in my station at home and also in the car. It is a very solid and well built radio with a nice looking orange display. It has 3 power settings and is rated at about 50 watts max which is more than enough to establish reliable communications. I use it on a low power setting of about 1 watt most of the time and this suits my needs just fine. I programmed in one of the frequency settings on the U.S. Weather service and this comes in handy when you want to access a weather report quickly. You can change frequencies quickly with a control on the lighted microphone if you wish. You can also lock in a frequency if you want. Yaesu I have to say did a nice job with this radio and 11 years of service with no problems or breakdowns convinces me. One thing I will mention however is that not all the various Yaesu models are created equally. The Yaesu FT-2500 is nice but there are other makes and models by the same company that I would not recommend.
