You Light Up My Living Room By rogue34 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I purchased two silver accent lamps and one silver accent table lamp for use in my living room. I'd searched a long time for just the right lamps that would suit my tastes and my home. These lamps have simple yet, sophisticated lines. I should researched the size better since the table lamp really is too large for the current space it occupies. The accent lamps are the size I needed, though.
These lamps also feature dimmer switches that allow you to control the amount of light. Unfortunately, the dimmer switches on two of the lamps ceased functioning after a few months. There is a lifetime warranty on the lamps but it will be a pain to take them back into the store. I don't know if I can get them back immediately as the store had to order the lamps for me.
As for energy efficiency, I tried to fit one of the new energy efficient bulbs into the lamps, but the harp is too short to allow more than a 60 watt bulb. Since I read by these lamp lights, I need at least a 75 watt bulb. So, I've had to stick with traditional shaped bulbs with the highest energy efficiency ratings.
Overall, I like the look of these lamps and the performance is ok. I just wish the dimmers had continued to work on all the lamps. Would I purchae them again? Probably, since my search was extensive and these were the ones that fit the desired look.

They sound great! The compact fluorescents don't work with dimmer switches well, anyway!
How awful to have the dimmer switches fail so quickly after your purchase of the Riley Lighting Collection lamps. I can understand why you would not want to lose both lamps at once for repairs, but since you have the warranty, perhaps you could schedule to have one done at a time?
Sorry the dimmer switch does not work anymore :0( But they sound like they look great in your home:0)
If these have a lifetime guarantee, you should take them back to the store. Even if they have to order new ones for you at least you will get what you paid for. What a shame that you can't use the new light bulbs in these. Guess maybe the design was out before the new light bulb design was released. Maybe they can suggest an adapter for your lamps. I bet these really look stylish!
Sounds like some pretty good lamps outside of the dimmer.
I hate the fact that the dimmer switch function stopped working after a few months-could the company replace your lamps for you?
Hope you can exchange them b/c these are pretty lamps.
Sorry to hear your dimmers failed also. I also have two Restoration Hardware lamps with dead dimmers. They don't sell my lamps anymore and can't supply parts so they've offered to reimburse me for parts if I repair them, or to take the lamps back for a refund. Dimmer lamp sockets aren't sold many places but I found some online and should have them soon (Google for "Leviton 6151" or "dimmer socket"). I'm going to try repairing them with the Leviton brand sockets because I really like the lamps and don't want to return them.
