Reviewing: Rite Aid Zinc Cold Relief Lozenges
Purchased at: Rite Aid     Price: $4.49 USD

Well I knew it couldn't last forever - getting through the winter without a cold that is. I finally felt that all too familiar scratchy throat and knew I better act fast to try to stop the dreaded cold in it's tracks.

I had run out of my trusty Zicam (see my other review on this product), so I had to go to the drugstore to buy more.I was shocked to find that it was up to almost $12 a box! With finances being tight right now, I just couldn't afford that much.My daughter was with me and she suggested I buy zinc lozenges, as zinc is one of the main ingredients in Zicam. The cost of $4.49 for 18 lozenges was much more affordable so that's what I bought.

I bought the Natural Cherry flavor and really liked the taste. These Rite Aid brand zinc lozenges are comparable to the Cold-Eeze brand. The active ingredient is Zincum Gluconicum - a homeopathic cold remedy. The package claims they have proven in double-blind placebo-controlled studies conducted at major US clinics that they reduced the duration and severity of the common cold by 42%.

The directions instruct you to begin taking them at the earliest signs of a cold for the best results.I took one lozenge every 2-4 hours with no more than 6 a day as directed. These seemed to work as well as Zicam.Within two days my cold has subsided and is almost gone.I will be sure to keep these on hand, ready for the next cold attack.
