Recently, I went to Michaels to purchase oil painting supplies for a creative family member and me. Oil painting can be an expensive hobby, and we wanted affordable options. There had to be a way to be creative with oils and not have to spend a ton of money. Fortunately, we found some great buys including, The Artist's Canvas brand canvas for $13.95.
The white canvas is a back-stapled traditional canvas. It is archival quality and made of 100% cotton duck. The cotton duck is a medium-weight and has a medium grain. It has a wood back frame which is comprised of beveled stretcher bars. The stretcher bars have been kiln-dried. The canvas' surface is triple primed with gesso for oil, acrylic paints and alkyd colors.
It measures 18 x 24 inches (457 mm x 610 mm).
I really like all of the professional details and workmanship that went into the canvas. I will report back once I know how it feels to paint on it.
I was looking at my receipt, and I noticed that the price of the canvas was actually $11.99 (original retail price) and I ended up paying $7.80 because I had a 40% off coupon. I must have been looking at a different item on the receipt when I wrote the review. Guess it was a better deal than I thought!
