Shopping / Pet Supplies / Kuranda Poly-resin Chewproof Dog Bed

review bed chewproof image

Do you have a dog who refuses to enjoy his or her bedding as it was intended? I don’t know why but my 10-month-old rescued dog insists on chewing up her bedding.

I was doing an internet search one day and I came across these dog beds. They are used in tons of shelters and kennels, and are advertised as chew-proof.

So I went to the website and picked out a bed for my dog. You can choose from a handful of options such as the material (a poly-resin or a metal) the legs and frame are made of, as well as the color and type of fabric that makes up the bed.

I had a lot of fun picking out the different options. There are many different colors to choose from, and you can pick from vinyl, cordura, vinyl weave, or nylon for the fabric of the bed. They also come in a large range of sizes, and the website has a breed guide to help you decide which size to get.

I received a tracking number via email, and my bed came in a long, skinny box about three days after it shipped. I opened it up and wondered if all the parts were there, but assembly was very easy. You put the rectangular frame together with the fabric in between, and then put the legs on and tightened the screws. I’m female, and it was a cinch, so anyone can do it.

I thought the beds were a bit pricy, but it has been worth it! My dog loves her bed. I haven’t seen her try to chew on it, but even if she did I don’t think she could hurt it. Her nails haven’t harmed the fabric, and I’ve even sat on the edge of it and it holds me up.

The company offers a one-year chewproof guarantee, and they also sell replacement parts for the bed if something happens to them after the year is up. I’ve had mine for four months and it still looks brand new. The website says you can hose them off, and they can be used inside or outside. They even have a crate-sized bed and nice, wooly bed covers (not recommended for dogs who chew!).

The website also has a link where you can donate a bed to a shelter. I haven’t done that yet but I’m putting my change aside so I can make a donation to the rescue group where I got my dog. I can’t even begin to imagine how many dogs a donated bed could provide with a comfy place to sleep, as they really do seem like they would last a long time.

Even if you don’t have a chewer, I’d recommend these beds for anyone who wants to give their dog a nice, relaxing place to rest its head. I got mine to use outside so when it’s hot in the summer time the air can circulate underneath and help keep my dog cool. Cats may even enjoy them, too!

  • My dog wouldn't sleep in a dog bed, preferred a human pillow on the couch at night. During the day she would plop anywhere except her dog bed. This sounds like an excellent bed. I agree with Maggie M, a chewproof guarantee, wow, that's unusual. They have a lot of faith in their product design.
