The box of pet toys from Purrfectplay came in June 2009. I was super excited to have received them, and I just knew Frankie would be excited to play with his new stuff!

                                                                                                          I appreciate Purrfectplay's toy-making belief system. Their toys are handcrafted and made with organic, dye-free fibers. Though, I do buy toys that don't use organic materials and use dye, I am impressed when a company takes that extra step and makes eco-friendly things for pets. I think it could make a difference in a pet's health. I like that they repurpose and reuse often.

Additionally, they use fair-trade materials in their products which makes them socially conscious. Another plus for Purrffectplay is that for every dollar spent, they donate 5% to no-kill and rescue organizations. I give companies kudos when they donate portions of their proceeds to great causes.

On to the toys! First up is the Medium Dumpling Toy. This appears to be made from some sort of canvas or burlap. It is very sturdy. Over the course of about a month and a half, this toy still hasn't formed any holes or tears. I liken this dumpling to a cloth frisbee. It can really catch some air and go far. There is a small squeaker in it. I wish the squeaker was bigger because it can be hard to find. Frankie loves the squeak noise and when he hears it, he is ready to play! He likes when I throw the toy. He chases right after it and brings it back straight away boomerang-style. He loves to play tug of war with it. I hold one end and he tugs at the other end with his mouth!

Second up is the Medium Wool Ball. At first, I wasn't sure about its texture which is soft and a bit like mohair. I also wasn't sure the ball would fit in Frankie's small mouth. I threw the ball down the hall. I liked how far it was able to go and the fact that it bounced. Frankie bolted after it and came right back with it in his mouth. It was able to fit! He really loves to chomp and chew on this. I have even seen him playing his own sort of soccer game with this by himself, moving the ball with his paws, then pouncing on it. Next, he gnaws on it!

These wool ball toys are supposed to bounce back really well when they get overly fuzzy and too chewed on. You have to put them in a nylon stocking, close with a twist-tie, throw them into your wash, remove, rub them between your hands, then either air or machine dry. I have yet to test this method since my ball is still in great condition.
