Gwen Frostic is an artist located in northwestern Michigan whose work has grown in popularity over the 30 years that I have known her to be in business. In her studio, you can purchase nearly every type of paper product imaginable with her artwork on it. Everything from stationery to remembrance books, calendars, postcards, placemats and bookmarkers are available.
I love the stationery from Gwen Frostic's studio. Although you can purchase cards with written sentiments inside, their largest selection contains blank note cards. These cards come in two sizes, 3 x 5 and 4 x 6. The paper on the envelope and on the cover of the note card has a torn appearance, which lends to its charm. The artwork is beautiful, and there are probably over a hundred different pictures to choose from. Each is watercolor art of native plants and animals.
If you can make it to Gwen Frostic's studio, I would highly recommend it. You can watch things being printed and browse through the endless collection, all at very reasonable prices. Alternatively you can visit their website at http://www.gwenfrostic.com/ and place an order (admittedly I have never ordered on-line, so cannot attest to their internet service).
I grew up in Michigan and have had the pleasure on numerous occasions to go Gwen Frostic's art studio tucked away in the northwestern part of the state. Whether you visit her studio or her website, read about Ms. Frostic. Her life was amazing, and I'm thrilled to say I got the chance to meet this extraordinary woman.
I recently learned that Gwen Frostic's has been forced to close. While they hope to open again soon, they give no indication of when that may be. I certainly hope it happens, and soon!
The studio is so much fun, and the paper items- stationery, journals, albums, etc- are just so special! Thanks!
I visted Gwen's site and will be back to order. What a wonderful little place it is. The prices are so reasonable, and I love her art Frogdoc. Thank you so much for introducing Gwen to us.
Absolutely beautiful! I think having some nice stationery is still a great way to show someone that you care for them by using lovely paper. In this day and age of a computer we tend to forget quality paper products. I will have to check this out.
