We have three girls, ages 16, 5 and 7 months. So it's hard to find a vacation destination that will amuse and entertain them all. York's Wild Kingdom in York Beach, Maine,  "Maine's Largest Zoo and Amusement Park", is the perfect answer! They have hundreds of animals, from the mundane to the exotic, an entire butterfly house where the butterflies actually fly around your head, great food, and lots of fun rides!

The park is split into two sections- the animal side, which has great exhibits of many varieties of animals, including a deer feeding area where the deer come right up to you, and a duck pond where you can paddle-boat and feed the ducks at the same time. There's even an elephant ride and a pony ride! There are also elephant shows and animal shows at scheduled times throughout the day.

The other side boasts a variety of rides, from the small ones designed for kids to the more grownup ones like the ferris wheel or the "Scrambler". There are two funhouses which are great to run through, as well as a haunted house and mini golf course. Even the 7 month old got to ride on the carousel!

They have some great food there, too, with huge fried dough that's only $4! There is also a picnic area so you can bring your own lunch as well. Admission is less than $20 a person for zoo and rides for an adult, so it's a great place to visit for the family who needs to stretch their dollar.

York's Wild Kingdom is definitely a place any family should visit when in Southern Maine for a visit!
