I cannot rave enough about how amazing this resort is.

Flying into the Kona airport, you feel as though you have been transported back in time as you climb down the stairs to the tarmac of the runway, seeing the wooden huts that mark the airport's main entrance.  You are greeted by a friendly aloha-wear clad employee of the resort, who directs you to the luggage claim, and after retrieving your bags, you board a van waiting to take you to the most remarkabe Hawaiian resort on the island.

Going into Kona Village feels like coming home.  You are greeted with a fragrant flower lei, and a kiss on both cheeks.  You are ushered into the reception area and offered a refreshing tropical rum punch. IF you have never been there before, you will be taken on a guided tour by golf cart of the resort on your way to your own private hut, called a Hale.  Your luggage will be delivered to your hale (Don't sign up for the automatic gratuity for baggage collection... do it by cash by hand, it will save you money and the porters appreciate cash much more!) and you will be thoroughly impressed by the room itself. Many hales look out at the ocean directly, and others the gorgeous lagoon.  Your room is supplied with a small minifridge to keep the 8 allotted assorted beverages of your choice (free each day) cool for you.  The renovated bathrooms are a DREAM, with deep luxurious tubs and windows all around.

This is the perfect resort for a romantic getaway or a honeymoon, with the privacy of your own hales and no tvs, radios, or cell phones allowed in the resort.  If you ahve a family, the children are provided for by a keiki program, and the resort is small and safe enough that you can set your children free in the morning, meet up at lunch, and set them free again to entertain themselves with the safe bamboo fishing, the beach front activities, and the fully included water amenities, such as kayaking, foam surfboards and boogie boards, snorkeling equipment and much more.

There are two chlorinated fresh water pools on the property, and a well lit tennis court area for sports.  There are spa options, and a well-equipped open air gym for the fitness regime.

 One of the best parts about Kona Village is the food.  Your meals are included in your room price, and you get three full meals a day.  Gourmet breakfasts with fresh island options are available daily, as well as an outdoor buffet should you prefer.   Lunch is a buffet style affair, with fresh fruit, oysters, sashimi, salads, and a grill area hsould you prefer a traditional burger, hot dog, or leg of lamb depending on the day.  The lunchitime dessert buffet is not to be missed.  Dinners are either in the large family Hale Moana, or the more romantic higher end dining option of the sunset viewing Hale Samoa.  Service is ALWAYS superb at either choice, and occasional options such as the Friday Luau or cowboy nights are also fun choices.
