Travel / Resorts / Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia

I spent my honeymoon at the Sandals Halcyon in St. Lucia.  The Halcyon is the smallest of three Sandals resorts on the islands, but makes up for its size with its comfortable atmosphere and excellent staff.  While the other resorts offer larger suites, more pools and more restaurants- the Halcyon is less crowded, better maintained and everyone knows your name.  We visited the other two resorts during our stay and every night I was grateful to return to our quaint island oasis.

One improvement I would like to see made is the room selection. Being our honeymoon, we stayed in the beachfront honeymoon suites (the top room option), and while they are very nice and private- the room selections of the other resorts on the island are far more luxurious.  The beachfront honeymoon suite consisted of a large bedroom (bed, chair, TV armoire) and a large bathroom.  A stocked mini-bar was nice for after dinner cocktails or lunchtime cocktails on our patio.

The staff at the Halcyon far surpassed the staff at the other resorts.  When visiting the Grand and the Regency (the two much larger Sandals) we found that the restaurant wait staff was brisk, distracted and didn't portray the island attitude we found at the Halcyon.  Every morning at the Halcyon we were greeted by name by the restaurant staff, the front desk staff asked us our plans for the day when we left the resort and every night the concierge bid us goodnight by name.

The grounds of the resort were well maintained, gorgeous flowers were everywhere and the beach was clean.  The restaurants were well staffed and the food was fantastic.

All in all, the small and older Halcyon gave off a charm that the larger hotel-like resorts could not compete with.
