All throughout my career in the health industry, I have come across many people who are eager to spend a fortune towards reducing their body weight. Little do they realize that it is just a matter of will power and motivation. When it comes to reducing body weight and keeping myself healthy and hearty, I try to follow a simple regime that constitutes my daily routine. So, if you are overweight and are serious about reducing body weight, a few simple steps can ensure you health and happiness.
Adopt a physically active lifestyle: Walk 4 km every morning, swim and cycle regularly or join a gym for regular workouts.
Resist the temptation to overeat. Nothing could be more fatal towards our pledge to reduce body weight than binge eating.
Reduce, if not stop the consumption of butter, full fat cheese, full fat milk, fried food, sugar, sweets, ice-cream, chocolates, cakes, sherbet, cold drinks, fruit juices, mutton, beef, yellow of the egg, refined flour. ‘Sugar-free’ or ‘Equal’ tablets or powder may be used to sweeten tea and any food. The idea is to live without sweet altogether, so it is better if we can avoid it totally.
If you must have non vegetarian food, then fish, chicken and white of eggs are OK: but it’s important not to fry. A lot of us tend to fry food before cooking. As much as we should incorporate the good old spices in our diet, we MUST not fry food. Also, we should snack on foods that are not junk. My mom keeps innovating with a variety of fruits and vegetables and she thinks fresh lemon juice, sprouted lentils, citrus fruits and farm fresh vegetables work wonders anytime. So, keep juggling your culinary creativity.
There is nothing like farm fresh veggie salad with yogurt and fresh fruits. Tea, fruits and vegetables are excellent for preventing heart disease and they help in eradicating any existing heart disease. The body has an excellent in-built protective system for activating and destroying harmful free radicals. But this system also requires the help of antioxidants present in food, to mop up these radicals. This is where tea, fruits and vegetables come in. Fruits and vegetables are rich sources of antioxidants. So is tea. Black, green, and oolong teas have excellent antioxidant qualities.
Use vegetable oil for cooking: no more than 5 teaspoonfuls per day .While Olive oil is the best, any other vegetable oil will do.
If you wish to consume alcohol, do so in moderation: 1-2 pegs per day. No more!
QUIT smoking. Smoking just one cigarette is enough to impair the function of the heart so that it has to work harder. The damaging effect of the cigarette is immediately apparent on the left ventricle (the main pumping chamber of the heart), which fails to relax fully.
Learn to manage stress at office and home. Regular periods of rest and relaxation need to be interwoven into work schedules. I feel so much better when I get to write, listen to music or read books. Pursuing a hobby can do wonders!
Follow this for a healthy living and see how effectively your reduces! Good luck!
