When I first stepped into St. Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood, MA, I immediately felt at home. Located in Norwood, MA, in the hustle bustle of the town, St. Catherine of Siena is a stone Catholic church with beautiful spires and a loving community.
Although I was new to this church, when I sat down and looked around, I felt peaceful, welcomed, and given lots of smiles. I really felt appreciated and at peace.
When the mass began, the booming and inspirational organ music combined with the voice talents of the choir produced an ethereal feel to my prayer. Everything was so beautiful and joyful. I really wanted to get up and sing all the songs, since they were all equally sung with such triumphant zeal. I discovered I was not the only one singing either. Most other Catholic masses I have attended had few people actually singing. However, at St Catherine's, everyone was singing, always with hope and happiness. I have never seen anything like it.
The priest at this mass was so kind and insightful with his homily. He really knew everyone in the congregation, which is about 300+ people. He greeted everyone with a kind and genuine familiarity that resembled to me a loving relative seeing his family. He was personable and relatable. I really wanted to listen to his words, and I paid attention throughout the entire service.
After the service, everyone crowded out of the church and stood outside chatting and catching up with old friends or the priest. It was so nice to see how everyone was kind and personable to one another, just like a family!
If you are looking for a great way to worship and you are in the area, I highly recommend spending an hour at St. Catherine's of Siena. You will feel constantly loved and at peace.
