Do you hate chilli? I bet some of you do. Who likes to eat beans and more beans? Yuck! I love the smell and taste of chilli powder. But hate the original recipe for chilli. Beans, beans, beans and ground beef. Pretty much that is all it is right?
Well it doesn't have to be. Here is a great recipe for making a tasteful chilli that will feed a large family.
2 680 ml of Spaggetti sauce. Any kind you want.
1 540 can of diced tomatoes
2 540 ml cans of mixed beans
2 398 ml cans of pork n beans
2 pounds of ground beef
3 carrots (or more)
3 pieces of celery (or more)
1 -2 large packages of fresh mushrooms
1 bunch of green onions (or more)
3 table spoons of Chilli Powder (or more to taste)
salt & pepper
Perpare the ground beef in a frying pan. Add garlic, salt, peper and add hot sauce. Cook until lightly browned. Then drain the ground beef
Get your roasting pan out. Chop up all the vegetables up. Chop up the celery and carrots fine. As they will end up to hard when your chilli is ready. But not to fine as you don't want them soggy. Now add all your can goods listed above. Then add more hot sauce, garlic, salt & pepper and then your chilli powder.
Place roasting pan on the stove top on low using two burners. 1 front and 1 back burner. Place the lid of the roasting pan on for about 10 minutes then stir about every 15 minutes. This will help the spicies flavour into the chilli.
Chilli will be done once mushrooms start shrinking in size.
No not subsitute fresh vegetables with bagged or can vegetables.
Have containers ready to freeze any left overs, but i don't think there will be any. When i make this my family they have bowls upon bowls of it.
