A hobby is something you enjoy spending time on, maybe you can make a little money doing it, or more importantly, it can give you something very interesting to talk about and hopefully meet someone who shares your same interest I stumbled into my hobby of collecting Disney gift cards when a friend of mine from Belgium asked me if I could get them for him and in exchange he would send me St. Nicholas items from Belgium and Holland. We did this for about a year when I realized that I really liked all the different Disney gift cards available to the public.

We all use gift cards of some kind or another, we receive them as gifts for a certain store, a good restaurant, usually the movie theater, Starbucks, you name it, there is a gift card out there for most everything. Myself, I was only interested in collecting the Disney gift cards.

First of all, gift cards are small and take up hardly any space and it's not a hobby that requires a lot of time or investment. Second, they are readily available through the Disney Store or from Walt Disney World or Disneyland. Your final cost is -0- dollars as you can load the majority up with a denomination of your choice, usually $5.00 or more. Some do come in dollar amounts so you have to know you will use them. I purchase them as a savings tool for our trips to Disney. I know I will always have money to spend and a collectible to keep when they are used.

As far as collecting Disney gift cards you can decide which ones you prefer. If you like all the Princesses, you can look for only those cards. I love Tinkerbell so I am usually on the hunt for those. Winnie the Pooh has a large variety of gift cards out there as well. Mickey & Minnie, the Fab 5, special occasion gift cards for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Halloween and Christmas are all there. Each season and each year brings more cards so I don't think I will ever run out unless they stop making them.

My Disney gift card collection is not worth a lot of money, it's just a fun hobby for me. I never have to worry about having room for them as they fit right in a little pocket of my purse. They are not heavy, they do not break, and when you think you want to move onto something else you can pass these on to your grandchildren or nieces and nephews to play store with, it's like having a wallet full of credit cards to them!

A trick to getting an assortment of cards is to ask friends, family and co-workers to pick these up for you if you know they are going to Disney for a vacation. Buying a gift card to make a purchase is just as easy as paying with cash and the gift card is yours to keep and treasure! What's your hobby?
