Recently, someone gave me a box of EnviroKidz Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs cereal. I don't have kids at home, but I thought I would give it a try. I was surprised to find this cereal to be really tasty, but not too sweet, with a good texture. It makes a great breakfast or anytime snack.
I would not normally choose to eat peanut butter flavored cereal, but it is a very mild, understated part of the flavor profile. This cereal is not so sugary as to make an adult feel sick after eating it, but it is sweet enough that kids should like it.
EnviroKidz Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs has a delightfully crunchy texture, even when it's been in milk for a while. This is not the kind of cereal that will wilt and get soggy before you can finish eating a bowl of it, and yet it has a good texture dry as well. It is shaped in small round balls that are easy to eat for little mouths and fingers.
Being organic, Panda Puffs have few ingredients: organic corn meal, organic evaporated cane juice, organic peanut butter, organic soy oil, sea salt, tocopherols (natural vitamin E), and organic tapioca starch. That's it--nothing artificial, and it is gluten free.
One 3/4 cup serving without milk contains 2.5 grams of fat, 130 milligrams of sodium, 24 grams of carbohydrates (including 2 grams of dietary fiber and 7 grams of sugar), and 2 grams of protein, so it makes a fairly healthy breakfast.
Since these Panda Puffs are made from organic ingredients, it is environmentally friendly--there are no synthetic herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers used to grow the ingredients. The box is made with 10% less material than others that hold the same amount of cereal. In addition, EnviroKidz donates 1% of their sales to species and habitat conservation and environmental education.
EnviroKidz Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs cereal is available at Trader Joes for $2.89 for 10.6 ounces. I do not often buy cereal, but I would be willing to buy this one again!
