Summer is over and it is time to put away the grill. I really love my grill. I can sit outside and enjoy the breeze while cooking without heating up the kithcen or messing up the stove. There is nothing I enjoy more than to throw a big, juicy steak on the grill and slather it with sticky, yummy BBQ sauce. But, alas, summer is gone. And the grill is hibernating under its nice, warm grill cover out in the garage. And I am stuck in the kitchen, messing up the stove. My mouth watering with the thoughts of big, juicy steaks slathered in yummy, sticky BBQ sauce. However, I can still enjoy that sticky, yummy BBQ sauce indoors with my Fast and Easy BBQ sauce. Here is the recipe. I use it on pulled pork, shredded chicken and even as a dipping sauce for chicken nuggets. It is fast. It is easy. And, most important, it is really yummy!
1 Cup catsup
½ Cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons prepared mustard or ½ teaspoon dry mustard powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ Cup chopped onion or 1 Tablespoon dry onion powder
½ Cup water
3 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder or use fresh, chopped, to taste
Pinch of dried Thyme
Combine everything in a bowl and stir until well blended and smooth. Then pour into sauce pan and simmer over medium heat (no need to let it boil) for about 10 minutes until hot and slightly thicker. Serve hot or allow to cool.
Mix with pulled pork or shredded chicken for great BBQ on a bun or use as a dipping sauce for French fries or chicken nuggets. Be prepared for the long, cold winter. Make several batches and freeze in freezer containers. That way you will always have plenty of this Fast and Easy BBQ sauce on hand.
