This is the time of the year, when Vermont does its maple sugaring. With good weather the Maple Syrup should be very tastey. Every year we have a Maple Festival at the end of April. The event lasts for three days, from morning to night. It has that fair likeness, with something for the whole family. There are breakfasts and dinners you can go to. There are the fast food booths, from fries, fried bread dough, chicken, pulled pork, and almost anything you could want. Of coarse you'll find different kinds of maple products (my favorite Maple Cotton Candy). The schools hosts craft fairs, talent shows, antique items, art works, and much more. The week-end brings music, foot races, pony rides, and a parade on Sunday. Through out the week-end they even have fair rides(these can be costly). This is quite the family week-end. The only draw back is the Vermont weather, which can be very warm to very cold, to dry to rainy. This week-end its going to be real nice, and that should bring a large turn out of families. The town even has transportation to and from the town, because parking can be a problem. We park in the same place every year, which is about 1/2 block away, and we go on Sunday for everything, but also to see the parade. We have gone to this week-end festival, as long as i can remember, and whether with the grandchildren or ourselves its a great time to get out after the long winter.
St Albans, Vermont is a small town with much to offer, but this Maple Festival is just such a good family outing. You can tell by the way its organized, it's with the family in mind. There probably are many other things that they offer, but so many i can't remember. I can't think of a much better week-end to spend our time.
